The intensity with which they dug into the project surprised me. It really felt like no stone was left unturned. Plenty of questions were asked about concepts or implementation that I hadn't even considered when starting the project.
Future Considerations Hockey is hockey’s premier source for information on NHL Draft eligible prospects around the world.
Build a web application to increase user engagement, create ongoing revenue streams, and establish FC Hockey as the leading NHL draft resource.
FC Hockey had an operational website with a substantial user base, but users were not engaged on an ongoing basis. The business model had users coming back annually to purchase draft guides, but for months on end, there was nothing to draw them back. In addition, the limited functionality of the website demanded significant manual effort. FC admin had to manually publish scouting reports – a very time-consuming process. They needed to design and build tools that worked for their own team and would keep hockey fans coming back.

A modern, user-friendly web app with slick, interactive features.
We worked with FC Hockey to build a highly functional web app. Using their existing brand identity, we reimagined the user experience and designed a more visually appealing layout that could present a large volume of scout data in an easy-to-use, easy-to-digest way. Key features of the web app include a Mock Draft where fans can simulate an upcoming NHL entry draft, a Rankings Builder where fans create a list of their own draft order, and a Report Builder where staff scouts and hockey superfans create their own scouting reports.
Everyone absolutely loves the design. It's what everyone raves about.
An efficient and engaging web app that supports new revenue streams.
Aaron Vickers, who spearheaded the FC Hockey project, commented during the design phase that their new website looked better than TSN’s site. Since launching FC Hockey’s new web app, the FC team has experienced far more efficient reporting and a growing subscription base. And so far, the data shows that the tool most popular among hockey fans is the Mock Draft.
